Abstract

The preparation of medicated oils (Thel Sindima) in traditional Sri Lankan Hela Wedakama constitutes one of the most sophisticated bio-extraction techniques of antiquity. This paper explores the thermal stages (Paka), lipid saponification parameters, and botanical infusion phases utilized in formulating classical oils such as Pinda and Maha Narayana Thailaya. The study documents the traditional use of the brass Thel Thulāva for ceremonial and therapeutic dispensing during continuous head-pour therapies (Shirodhara), proving the synergistic relationship between ritual implement design and clinical therapeutic delivery.
